Student's Experiences
I participated in the Autumn—Winter 2011 yoga teacher training course with CYTT. Wonderful course! Brenda made us feel so welcome, taught in a lovely manner and gave us the encouragement we needed… I would recommend it to anyone considering teacher training. Brenda is an experienced, wise and inspirational teacher. She provides a kind, constructive and nurturing learning environment. Brenda allows students to deepen their own practice and supports different individual styles. It is a comprehensive, intensive and all-encompassing course covering the many facets of Yoga. Brenda openly shares her deep knowledge and unquestionable enjoyment of Yoga and teaching.
The ChillOut Yoga Teacher Training course offers a fantastic opportunity to deepen your experience of yoga, I personally have learned so much from doing this course, and have developed so much more in my own personal practice and it has also gave me skills to use in my everyday personal life. Brenda is an absolutely brilliant teacher, she is one of the few yoga teachers who I have came across that really comes across as being the true essence of yoga.....I found the course and Brenda's way of teaching truly inspiring....I cannot recommend this course enough, it was an absolute pleasure to have been taught by a teacher who is truly passionate about yoga. Also would like to thank Stuart for his lovely dinners and excellent hospitality....Katrina McNeil I'm so glad I enrolled with ChillOut for Teacher Training. Brenda has a way of teaching that brings different aspects and levels to your own practice, almost without you realizing it's happening. My own practice changed and improved so much throughout the course that I now feel confident about teaching others. We have gone on to sign up for the 500 hours as we were so impressed with Brenda's deep knowledge of yoga. Debs Philip Deciding to enrol on the Chill Out teacher training yoga course is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The benefits to my yoga practice and my health from taking part in the intensive were apparent immediately and I was totally motivated to carry on with the course over the next 6 months. Brenda’s style of teaching ensures that you deepen your knowledge of yoga and learn how to be a safe yoga teacher with your own style. Brenda and Stuart were welcoming and encouraging throughout the whole process offering the right mix of hospitality, support and space. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my time on the course and the opportunity to spend time my fellow students. I would recommend this course to anyone who is keen to deepen their own practice,to progress as a good yoga teacher in their own individual way and to have some fun along the way.Kirsten Baird I have just completed the intensive ChillOut yoga teacher training course with Brenda. I could not be happier with the course and feel so inspired and invigorated as I move forward in deepening my own yoga practice and as I prepare to start teaching. Yoga has been such a gift to me that I wanted a course that taught trainee teachers how to pass on yoga with integrity, confidence and safely. For me, the ChillOut course was perfect; it lived up to and exceeded my expectations. Sincerely, for anyone who is serious about teaching yoga with compassion, integrity and with the student’s wellbeing and enjoyment in mind, then I would unequivocally recommend this practical and profoundly comprehensive yoga teacher training course. I am so delighted I came across this course after looking exhaustively at other courses. And training with Brenda – a fantastic teacher and person all round – in the beautiful village of Aberfoyle made morning practice that bit extra special – the cherry on the cake! A big thanks to Brenda and Stuart and also to all of the other lovely, dedicated and fun, fellow trainees who made the training so special. Linsey Hague I arrived at the course wondering if I was going to be the slowest and least bendiest student. That's not what it's about though is it? The course is exactly what it says on the label.....finding your own voice...' Brenda and Stuart are positively brilliant at what they do. They welcome each and every person with open arms in a warm, professional and friendly way.The venue, accommodation and food are as near to perfect as you will get. If you're thinking about doing the course, do it, you'll love it J Evelyn Reid I spent many months researching yoga teacher training courses. When I found the Chill Out course I immediately connected with Brenda’s yoga ethos - so I booked a place. I was not disappointed. Brenda is an inspirational 'hands on' teacher. She has instilled confidence and self belief in my own yoga practice and my teaching abilities. On this course you will learn all the important things about yoga, you have fun, make friends and laugh....a lot! Yes it is intense, but if you are serious about becoming a yoga teacher the ChillOut course is most definitely worthwhile - I have no regrets. I have come away with a lot of new knowledge and an appetite for more and that is thanks to Brenda and her passion for yoga and all the wonderful new yoga friends I have made. Elizabeth Hawkins I personally am really happy that I had an opportunity to do the teacher training and feel the benefits in lots of different ways. I now appreciate that nervous though I am about my abilities, others are too and it was great to feel the support given to deal with that, just to appreciate that we are all different and have different things to offer. I felt the structure of the work during the day was paced well from self-practice to morning and afternoon sessions with breaks between. At times it seemed a lot of work but then we had an opportunity to reflect and concentrate on something completely different. I loved working on the asanas, and because anatomy, science of stretching, hands-on adjustments, breathing, teaching guidelines, awareness of the students needs, etc was covered– it all makes so much more sense. The progress made from my first attempt when teaching one-to-one to the almost 40 minutes of totally unprepared lesson is amazing to me. I really feel that you have opened the door for me and I can now allow myself to wander through and develop as I go along. I can't wait to get stuck in to the homework!! I now have a dedicated 'space' in the house for my yoga practice which the family now see as a serious part of my life. Great!! Clare Green I love learning how all the parts of yoga link together, and I find that your teaching is ideal for me to do that. I loved the way my whole being felt so together and balanced after the course. Thanks for the good food and the whole lovely ‘group of people’ feel that you develop, and for your patience and all your helpful hints, as I see now how I can develop trust in my own abilities to take care of myself – which is a place well worth arriving at. Anne Henderson I have had many teachers and have tried out different styles of yoga over the years, but as soon as I took my first lesson with Brenda, I knew her classes were different. She has guided me through subtle changes in my practise and their effects have been profound. Having learned from experience, I knew that I wanted to be a part of Brenda’s teacher training programme. I took a course a few years back but left the course feeling not much further forward in my own personal practice; nor did I have the confidence to teach. I felt that I needed to learn more about teaching safely, as well as have a deeper understanding of the poses. Brenda’s course has done just that for me. After my first weekend on the course, I already felt much more confident in what I was learning than my previous course. Also, she makes sure you get plenty of teaching practice, along with constructive feedback, to help you become a more confident teacher – BEFORE leaving the course. Finally, her teachings are intuitive, modern, and sensible, which has gone a long way to helping me keep up my own self practise. Her passion for yoga is inspiring – I feel as if I have found the true essence of yoga and have been able to go much deeper in my own practice. Tracy MacFarlane ChillOut Yoga Teacher Training with Brenda has been a great experience. It has been extremely interesting, very challenging and enormous fun and the year has flown by. My practice has developed immensely, my knowledge of yoga has grown and my interpretation and integration of all this has deepened my understanding of myself and developed my self awareness. I have laughed more than I thought possible, seen sunrises that have taken my breath away, found my breath (in more ways than one) and all of this has been in a space where I have felt safe, respected and cared for. Brenda’s delightful and inspirational teaching style has been a joy to witness and learn from. I haven't stopped smiling since we graduated and I am proud to be one of the first Chill Out Yoga graduates. Gillian Lester The reason I decided to take the Yoga Teacher Training Course with Brenda was because of her own personal teaching style. She holds a great deal of respect, compassion and acceptance of limitations within each individual. I wanted to learn to teach as she did. However, throughout the course Brenda emphasised the need to find one’s own style; this brought confidence to all on the course and each of us ended the course with very different teaching styles which had been supported and encouraged by Brenda throughout the year. Although there was much to learn, including facing one’s own doubts and fears, there was a lightness and acceptance of where we all were in the process. I felt supported throughout the whole course. Each asana explored in depth brought more understanding of the physical, mental and emotional blocks which may hinder oneself and others from accepting where they are in an asana or moving from one to the other. Emphasis was placed very much on breathing with the movement: “Movement follows the breath” is now deeply imprinted in my brain and enters all aspect of daily living. Brenda teaches that Yoga is not just practice, but can penetrate all aspects of life. I am sad that the year’s course is now over, also delighted that I now can, if I wish, teach others and pass on the depth of knowledge that Brenda imparted to us. She has a highly individualistic style and an easy manner with all who come to her classes. As a teacher of teachers she says that she constantly learns from her students, this allows an easy flow of communication between student and teacher. I would highly recommend her Teacher Training Course to anyone, whether for self development or for teaching practice. I have gained much more than I ever thought possible on both. Fiona Campbell I have been practicing yoga for more than 30 years with many different teachers. It is only since having Brenda as a teacher that I have come to understand the real essence of yoga. No experience in life should ever be perceived as negative and my journey with yoga has been one upon which I have built at every stage. However there were many times when I compared myself to others and tried to be and achieve in ways that were not relevant to the person I am. Brenda has helped me to understand that yoga comes from within, to be able to be in tune with my own body without feeling the competition of others. I have discovered how to challenge myself while recognising my own limitations without feeling a failure. Importantly Brenda’s classes are fun and delivered with intuition and empathy. Jane Baron |
